National Sports Governance Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha.
Objective: This bill is being brought to improve sports governance, to improve performance in sports and to reduce disputes related to sports federations.
Provisions:
- Establishment of National Sports Governing Body: To establish coordination and harmony among various sports organizations like: National Olympic Committee, National Paralympic Committee, National Sports Federations, Regional Sports Federations etc.
- Establishment of National Sports Board: Appointment of Chairman and Members – By Central Government
Qualification: Special knowledge related to public administration, sports governance, sports
Work-

- May cancel or suspend recognition of sports organization.
- To issue guidelines on the code of ethics safety measures.
- National Sports Election Panel: To look after free and fair election work in sports bodies.
- National Sports Tribunal: – To ensure speedy resolution of sports related disputes
Composition:
Chairman: Judge of S.C. or Chief Justice of H.C.
Member: Sports, Public Administration or Law Expert
Note:- It has power of Civil Court.
- Directive to each national sports governing body to formulate a code of conduct in line with international best practices.
- Safe Sports Policy and Grievance Redressal: – To ensure the safety of women and minor athletes
